Job Description

Here’s a great opportunity to join a global leader in critical communications technology, delivering advanced wireless and mobile broadband solutions. As a Sales Engineer – Asia, you’ll be based in the regional office in Kuala Lumpur and be responsible for pre- and post-sales activities, shaping strategic deals, managing customer requirements, and bridging the gap between customers and our R&D and product teams to ensure solutions meet real-world needs.

The role requires an individual who’s driven to provide the best customer experience from the initial meeting through requirements capture, solution proposal, demonstration, tendering & closure. 

My client’s customer base includes governments as well as many different industries, such as transportation and oil & gas, working with system integrators and channel partners to deliver success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate the vision and value of our products to the Sales team and our partners.
  • Pro-actively identify technical opportunities based upon customer engagement.
  • Capture and understand customer requirements. Propose technical solutions and develop the business case with Product Management
  • Answering tenders (RFI/RFP) in a detailed and professional manner.
  • Performing SWOT analysis on competitor products.
  • Preparing and delivering solution-based product presentations and demonstrations to customers.
  • Executing on customer proof of concepts (POCs).
  • Continuously helping to develop our solutions by providing feedback from the field.
  • Understanding competitor offerings and provide input to the sales team on product positioning and differentiation.
  • Working with Product Management and Marketing to build on product messaging that sets products apart from others in the market
  • Traveling to customer premises within the Asia region
  • Representing the company at customer facing events  

This role involves extensive travel so the successful applicant will have a full, clean driving licence, own car, and valid passport. Travel expenses will be reimbursed. It is anticipated that around 50% of the time will be spent travelling regionally in Southeast Asia with some overseas travel to the UK.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven Pre-sales engineering experience working alongside a sales team
  • Demonstrable background in Android, Cloud/SaaS. 4G/5G networks, AWS or Enterprise Mobility Management
  • Proven ability to confidently deliver technical presentations and demonstrate equipment to small, medium and large audiences.
  • Proven ability to explain and present technical solutions
  • Strong track record in relationship-building (internally and externally)
  • Affinity to both sales and technology functions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to bond with technical and operational customers up to senior levels
  • Proposal and Tender writing experience
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Commercial acumen and organisational awareness
  • Possess strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Customer focus and quality of communications is a key attribute
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia/ Indonesia


Qualifications

  • Relevant technical degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel through sales territory
